eCasting Instructions:
Please read everything carefully before you begin. We can only consider clean and complete submissions.
1. VIDEO RECORDING:
Camera Setup/Preparation:
We can only present high-quality self-recordings to the director. This applies to both the performance quality and the audiovisual presentation.
Therefore, make sure you are clearly audible (audio quality) and clearly visible (good framing and lighting)! Before you start filming your scene, do a quick test to make sure everything is okay.
The camera or phone should be mounted on a tripod or held steady, in cinema/landscape format (please do NOT use portrait/selfie format!), and in a medium close-up shot, meaning from chest to head (your facial expressions should be clearly visible in the shot. We are only interested in you in this recording and how you are playing).
If you are filming in the evening, make sure you are filming in a well-lit room.
If you are filming with an opponent, please keep the camera focused on YOU. The opponent is there to help you, not to be in the shot.

1a. Begin the scene as follows:
You are welcome to speak English for the introduction.
Briefly introduce yourself (please don’t speak for too long. Say the following in a friendly manner):
– First and last name, place of residence, your affinity for football, and your last film/commercial project.
– Mention whether you have appeared in a commercial within the last 5 years that could compete with a bank.
1. => If yes, mention what your role was and until when the commercial aired/will air.
2. => If no, mention that you have never done commercials for the competition.
– For the role, you must be a native French (Québéquois) and English (if possible) speaker. So, speak one sentence in French-Canadian and English to demonstrate your fluency.
– Please show your profile from both sides for approximately 2-3 seconds.
– Please show your hands to the camera (hold them in front of your face), palm and back of each hand, for approximately 2-3 seconds.
– Please start immediately with the following scene (this can also be sent as two videos: one for introduction, one for the scene itself).
Please perform the scene requested by the director. You are welcome to embellish the content (as long as it remains within the context) and perform it for a longer time. Use a co-star to make it easier/more realistic. The camera should always be focused on you in close-up.

You play “JAMES,” the Canadian fan.
Character Description:
– James wears his gray hair with confidence and exudes natural calm and composure, even in chaotic situations as the father of twin girls.
– Slightly more athletic than Urs, fit for his age, confident, friendly, open, yet attentive and reserved.
– Humorous through subtle reactions and natural, unobtrusive comedic timing.
Criteria: French-Canadian speaker.
Director’s Instructions:
Please record a short self-tape of yourself acting out the scene.
Imagine you are at a soccer game when the fan next to you starts talking to you. He assumes you are Swiss and tries to start a conversation in French.
Act out the scene using the script (see below). Focus on the dialogue, but also on your facial expressions and a touch of confusion.
What I’m paying particular attention to is your stage presence, subtle reactions, and good comedic timing.
Look: Gray-haired, athletic, well-groomed, wearing a Canadian fan jersey, relaxed, confident, and likeable.
Scene/Script:
You’re already in your seat at the stadium. The stands are packed, the atmosphere is electric, voices mingle with the roar of the crowd. You casually hold your drink and watch the game, while a fan with two drinks makes his way through the aisle next to you.
He sits down beside you, turns to you in a friendly manner, and says something in Swiss German: “Isch lässig, gell?” You blink briefly, slightly confused, and reply politely: “Pardon?” He realizes you didn’t understand him, leans a little closer, and tries again in French: “Ah, tu viens de Suisse romande?”
There’s a brief pause as the noise in the stadium swells. You smile slightly, calmly, and kindly, and reply in your Canadian French: “Je suis Canadien.” The fan next to you frowns slightly and asks cautiously: “Genève?” You shake your head, still unperturbed: “No. Canada.”
He nods confidently, as if he understands everything, and turns his gaze back to the field. You follow his gaze, take a sip of your drink, and watch the game briefly. After a moment, you notice out of the corner of your eye that he looks back at you. His gaze falls on the maple leaf on your jersey. For a brief moment, it seems to click for him. He smiles slightly and says, “Aaah – I’m okay too.”
You both refocus your attention on the game.
=> Ideally, film this scene at home or in a quiet environment. A garden or a bright room will suffice. Ensure good lighting and a steady camera, using a medium close-up. You can film one or two takes if possible. One good take is enough, though.
=> Keep your hands visible to show your drink and any small gestures. Authentic movements: No exaggerated acting, everything should be light, fluid, and genuine.
